Here are some key things that The Oaks is committed to.
Expository Preaching
We are committed to the systematic study of the Word of God. This happens most faithfully through expository preaching and bible-saturated groups.
Intentional Authenticity
It is important for the people that make up a church to know and be known by each other. We will cultivate authenticity in our gatherings, relationships, and partnerships.
Financial Transparency
The funding of a church comes from the generous giving of its members. The members will be able to clearly see how & where resources are utilized. We believe that this brings an added measure of clarity and ownership that allows people to give more cheerfully.
Plurality of Elders
The Oaks Church will be lead by a plurality of qualified elders/pastors. No one person should bear the weight of shepherding the church. This commitment will help keep both the church and the elders/pastors healthy.
Diversity Celebrated
The gospel is the most radically inclusive invitation the world has ever known. We believe that faith in Christ makes us family regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic situation, background, or political persuasion.
Missional Involvement
Followers of Christ have the unique privilege of participating in the global mission of God. We believe that this mission is to glorify Himself through the redemption & restoration of His creation. Therefore, we want to recognize and participate in God’s work in Byhalia and around the world. We will partner with other like minded churches & church planting efforts around the world.
Accessible Leadership
The pastors and leaders of The Oaks will be appropriately accessible to the church. One of the beautiful facets of being in the local church is having people to help you navigate the ups & downs of life.
Kingdom Minded
The Oaks Church is committed to Kingdom work. The Kingdom of God is big. It circles the globe and spans the ages. We are committed to seeing outside of ourselves and immediate work that our hands are in.
Corporate Worship
We will gather on the first day of the week to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is our joy to join in the global choir that gathers to sing His praises, study His word, remember His death, and fellowship with His people.
